Using Diffraction

These terms govern your use of Diffraction’s websites and services. “Diffraction”, “we” and “us” refer to the operator of the Diffraction service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you use it for an organisation, you must have authority to accept these terms for that organisation.

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. Keep your account secure, provide accurate information and tell us promptly about unauthorised access. Workspace administrators are responsible for invitations, permissions and the repositories they connect.

Reviews and your responsibilities

Diffraction reviews web applications and produces findings and recorded evidence. Connected repositories may trigger reviews automatically according to configured rules, consuming credits. You are responsible for configuring those rules and authorising access to the code and environments you provide.

Use suitable test environments and data. Do not use the service to attack systems, run unlawful or abusive workloads, bypass access or billing controls, infringe others’ rights, or expose secrets or personal information you are not entitled to share.

AI findings may be incorrect or incomplete. A successful review is not a guarantee that software is secure, accessible, compliant or free of defects. You remain responsible for checking results, maintaining backups and deciding whether to merge or deploy a change. Beta features may change or be withdrawn.

Your code and evidence

You retain your rights in the code and other materials you provide. You give us permission to access, copy, process and transmit those materials to our service providers only as needed to provide, support and secure the service and meet legal obligations. This includes running applications, using AI providers, recording evidence and publishing results to the destinations you configure.

You may use the review results and evidence for your own purposes, subject to rights in underlying content. AI output may not be unique. We retain rights in Diffraction’s software, branding and other service materials. Our Privacy Policy explains personal-information handling.

Plans, seats and credits

Prices are in US dollars. The pricing page and checkout show your plan, billing interval, included credits and applicable taxes before purchase. Annual subscriptions are charged for the year upfront; any displayed monthly equivalent is not a monthly payment schedule. Subscriptions renew automatically for the selected interval unless cancelled.

Starter includes one developer and no viewer seats. Pro bills per developer seat and allows free viewer seats. Assigning or inviting a developer can increase the subscription charge, including prorated charges; pending developer invitations can reserve a paid seat. Administrators are responsible for these changes.

An E2E visualisation uses one credit and an agentic review uses two. Included credits reset monthly, including on annual plans, and do not roll over. Purchased extra credits carry over between monthly resets and require an eligible active subscription to use. Credits are service allowances, not money, and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash except where required by law.

Polar acts as merchant of record for purchases, handles payment processing and applicable transaction taxes, and applies its buyer terms to checkout and payment services. We provide Diffraction and product support. Changes to future prices will be communicated before they apply; cancelling before renewal avoids the new renewal charge.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel renewal through billing management or contact us for help. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Removing a GitHub installation or simply stopping use does not cancel a subscription.

For a billing mistake, service problem or refund request, contact us with the purchase details. Refunds are assessed with Polar under applicable law and payment rules. We do not promise automatic refunds for unused time or credits. Nothing in these terms limits a refund or other remedy you are legally entitled to receive.

Availability and account closure

We aim to keep the service reliable, but do not promise uninterrupted availability or a particular review outcome or completion time. Features may depend on third-party services. We may restrict access to address non-payment, abuse, security risks or a material breach of these terms, with notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue where practical.

You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. Cancel subscriptions separately to stop renewal. Contact us before closing a workspace if you need help retrieving its records. Retention and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy. If we discontinue a paid service, we will provide reasonable notice where possible and address unused prepaid service fairly, subject to your legal rights.

Responsibility and legal rights

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without additional warranties, and we are not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, arising from your use of it. To that same extent, our total liability relating to the service is limited to the greater of US$100 or the fees you paid for Diffraction in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limitations do not apply to fraud, wilful misconduct or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer guarantees, privacy rights or other protections under applicable law, including New Zealand consumer law where it applies.

Questions, disputes and updates

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. New Zealand law governs these terms, subject to mandatory protections and rights to bring proceedings that apply where you live. Subject to those rights, disputes may be brought in New Zealand courts.

We may update these terms with appropriate notice of material changes. Changes do not remove accrued rights or retrospectively change a completed purchase. If you disagree with an update, you can stop using the service and cancel renewal before it takes effect.
